Ulverston is a town spoiled for choice when it comes to places to eat and drink - and now the public is being urged to vote for their favourite.
The returning Heart of Ulverston Awards will celebrate the best hospitality venues across the town, and the awards committee is asking for local people to help them crown the best restaurant, pub, bar or hotel in the area.
Members of the steering group met to agree which of the nominated venues should make it to the shortlist.
A public vote is now live for people to select the venue they would like to see named the top establishment at the awards ceremony which will be held at the town’s Coronation Hall on Thursday, May 16.

The finalists (in alphabetical order) are as follows:
The Farmers
The Farmers caters for all tastes and is a pub, wine bar, restaurant and 4-star accommodation provider rolled into one. Situated on Ulverston’s Market Street, The Farmers is popular with customers from across Cumbria and beyond as its location provides a great vantage point of the bustling market town.
The Old Friends
The Old Friends, located on the town’s Soutergate, boasts its own line of beers made on site which are available alongside guest beers and still cider. The pub’s large beer garden is a big hit with punters all year round with the inclusion of cover and heaters in colder weather.
The Orangery Café at St Mary’s Hospice
Open seven days a week, the Orangery based in the headquarters of charity St Mary’s Hospice provides a wonderful range of options to cater for all tastes. The Café is equally as popular for its breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, and you can enjoy a range of hot or cold drinks, or a glass of wine or beer, with your afternoon meal.
The Rose & Crown
The Rose & Crown has been located in the heart of Ulverston for 500 years, and it continues to score highly with townsfolk and visitors alike. The characterful building - complete with old oak beams, black slate floors and an open log fire - provides the perfect venue for those wanting a drink or a meal in its highly regarded restaurant.
The Stan Laurel Inn
Like the actor this venue is named after, The Stan Laurel Inn has gained a huge following with its food and drink hugely popular with its customers. The pub offers a selection of locally produced beers to complement its wider variety of drinks, and it serves hearty grub from both its cosy traditional bar and modern dining area.
Voting is now live on the Heart of Ulverston Awards website and the deadline for nominations is April 11.
